Treating And Preventing Fascioliasis

Take Precaution In Risky Regions

Dreamstime

No vaccine can prevent fascioliasis, so individuals planning to go on vacation should take precaution in risky regions. The traveler should research the area to see what parasites are prevalent in it. They should not eat raw fruits or vegetables especially if they are aquatic like watercress or water chestnuts. Travelers should only eat foods that are not only well cooked but are still hot and avoid raw meats as well. As an extra precaution, it is also a good idea not to drink or perform oral hygiene with tap water that might have been contaminated from a nearby cow or sheep farm. Boil the water first, or drink bottled water.
