Sharp and radiating flank pain is a common sign of a floating kidney. This pain is called flank pain, and it begins in the patient's side and quickly moves down to the groin area. It can happen to men or women, and it hurts. The pain typically goes away in a few moments, but it’s a feeling patients won’t forget. It might happen all the time or it might happen on occasion.
